BUM

I would kill for a Saturday filled with movies, take out, and straight pjs.
Like this day was-rolling out of bed-and rolling onto the couch.

Update: I am still alive

I know you don't believe me, but I have a bout a zillion posts to share, but I'm not able...I need SOME surprises for this wedding. I have been working like a dog lately. Between work, planning this wedding, renting out vintage items, and giving Damon attention, the blog was put on hiatus. I hated to do it, but I really had no choice. I hope you haven't completely left me and I will be able to reel you back in. I know it is going to take more than apologies, but I'll see if I can't convince you!

My mom found this awesome couch at an auction-I can't wait to get our pictures taken with it on our wedding day!!

Sleepy Char

Charlie just started sleeping out of her cage the entire night,
or I should say, she just started sleeping on ME the entire night.
Even in a king size bed she manages to keep me as far away from Damon as possible.
We have a new appreciation for our sleeping beauty.

aren't they cute

Charlie

She ALWAYS sits at the top of the steps waiting for Day to come home from work.
I am well aware who her favorite is!

Embroidered Hoop Art

I don't know if it is because it is football season and Damon gives me no attention, but last night I went into a crafting binge. If this is any insight into what this football season is going to bring, then watch out.

My first project: Embroidery

My mom got me a slew of embroidery thread off of Craigslist for my birthday. I know most people, unless you are of my grandmother's age, don't ask for embroidery thread, but I wanted to try to a few different crafty projects.  I also managed to pick up some embroidery hoops and fabric at some yard sales on the cheap. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with it all, but last night I figured it out.

First, I ironed the fabric, then dug out my embroidery hoops, needle, thread, and found a print of Pennsylvania on the computer.

Next, I stretched the fabric between the hoops and made it as taut as possible.

I then attempted to copy the Pennsylvania pattern onto the fabric. I used a pen-not a good idea. I think there is a fabric pen that dissolves if doused in water; maybe I need to make another run to Michaels.

Next, I turned to YouTube to teach myself how to make stitches.  I used a "back stitch" (trying to sound knowledgeable).  With all things in place, I went at it.

Charlie gave me moral support.

If you used a pen like I did, you will have pen marks ALL OVER the fabric.  The easiest way to remove the ink is with alcohol; nothing else seemed to work.  I wanted to keep it framed in the embroidery hoop so I cut the excess fabric off.

It may seem a bit complicated, but it's not. I don't think I have ever even sewed before. So, most of you first-timers should be fine. Give 'er a try!

Labor Day

We went to the lake house for the Labor Day weekend with Scottie and Cayce, oh, and let's not forget Kaya. We had quite the weekend of boating, board games, and dogs. Kaya and Charlie became fast friends, and maybe best friends forever by now.

EVERYONE was exhausted from the weekend.

HAPPY LABOR DAY!

Oh yeah, I did manage to explore the Goodwill in Huntingdon.

Charlie Turns One Year!

Damon and I took a little "photo" walk down memory lane about Charlie over the past year. It is hard to believe she is already one year.  As much as that dog drives me nuts, I couldn't imagine our life without her.

Her first day home.
Her first visit to my parents' house.
Her first visit with dad while he was under the influence.
Her first car ride. Now she can't even fit in the front seat.
She is ALWAYS following Damon.

Her first visit to Bosler Avenue.
Her first Christmas.

Her first haircut.

I am allowed to be a doting mother for at least a blog post.

Guest Bedroom

We have been in the house for almost 2 years now and continue to get settled.  We just finished the final touches in the spare bedroom so thought I would share a bit of my could be submission to Apartment Therapy. Maybe not Apartment Therapy worthy, but you get the point.  Like I've said before, I like that my "stuff" has a story and most everything has been Craigslisted, thrifted or bought at some sort of budget-friendly store.

Green vintage chairs:  church flea market (Mom scooped these up a few years ago); green ceramic lamps:  Harrisburg Flea Market (I think you, Alyssa, have wanted these since you first saw them :)); lamp shades:  Ollies.

The bedroom suite started its journey with Damon's brother-in-law in college, then went to Damon in Bosler Avenue, and now has found a home in our spare bedroom. Oh, and not to forget the wee little end table the lamp sits on: we can thank JDemps for that.

Charlie looking all too innocent.
